Sunlight Sometimes people say they cannot paint. “I will just look at the pictures,” they say. But why just look when you can paint them yourself? Every person is creative in his or her own way. But some people never know this. I paint my paintings so you can learn the technique. And then you can paint whatever you imagine. Isn’t it good to know that people have abilities that are special only to them? Wouldn’t’ it be wonderful if you could share those abilities with others by putting your ideas on canvas? …. words written by Bill Alexander.
Bill Alexander has been a favorite since he brought painting into millions of households through television. It is easy when you know the wet-on-wet oil painting technique that Bill developed that enables first time and beginning painters to create detailed landscapes in just one sitting.
“Sunlight” is a landscape Bill painted on television that shows off the mountainous beauty that is so abundant around his home in Powell River, British Columbia. Using his technique, you will be able to create the sunlight shining on the trees and mountain peaks and keep a happy smile on your face the whole time. Make yourself comfortable and relax as you paint. Don’t try to copy the example exactly, it’s not necessary. You may want to add or take away some trees or mountain peaks. It’s your world that you will be painting and as a painter you are in charge of how you want it to be. So as Bill would often say, “Fire in! You can paint, I promise!”
